Thank You, Van Gogh

He scattered his sickness over

The field of sunflowers and

Convalesced by the sea over

Coffee and cake

His body and mind grew stronger

As the saltwater air reinvigorated

His thoughts and his imagination

Took flight beside a Sacred Ibis

At night, a nurse brought him a cigar

And he meditated under the stars

On the balcony as the tobacco

Burned and he relearned

What it meant to be

Alive
